The College of Business Administration (CBA) was established following the Amiri Decree No. 164 of 1995. CBA has officially started offering academic programs in the first semester of 1995/1996, as a replacement to the School of Commerce and Economics and Political Sciences at Kuwait University .
CBA has currently under its umbrella the following Departments:
- Finance & Financial Institutions
- Management & Marketing
- Public Administration
- Quantitative Methods & Information Systems
CBA is committed to providing integrated knowledge and management skills for its graduates. Public and private sector organizations recruit CBA graduates as they perceive them to be well equipped with both language and computer skills, and with excellent analytical and quantitative abilities. CBA is also committed to developing a strong sense of business ethics as related business practices.
At the beginning of the academic year 1998/1999, CBA launched the Master's in Business Administration (MBA) program. This program has been designed to develop knowledge and leadership skills of the graduates as decision-makers at the levels of middle and senior organization management. The language of instruction in the program is English. The program is provided in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University's Graduate College.
In April 2005, CBA has been awarded AACSB full accreditation for all of its Bachelor's and Master's programs. CBA received the certificate of accreditation in an official ceremony held as part of the activities of the annual AACSB conference (from 21-23 April 2005 at the city of San Francisco). At present time, CBA is working on the maintenance requirements of this accreditation. On recent developments, CBA is on the verge of completing proposals for new postgraduate programs in the fields of Accounting, Economics, and Islamic Finance. These will be offered in cooperation with the University's Graduate College.
