The university has signed a contract of construction and maintenance for the infrastructure operations in City of Sabah Al-Salem University, with the Gulf Construction Company of Marine Operations and General Contracting represented by engineer Manaf Mohamed Ali Al-Muhanna, the Chairman of the Board and the Managing Director with the presence of Dr. Modhi Al-Humoud, the Minister of Education and Higher Education and the Supreme President of the university, Dr. Abdullah Al-Fuhaid, the University's President, Dr. Anwar Al-Yatama the Secretary General and Dr. Faisal Al-Jowaihel, the Vice President of Planning. The value of the contract reached 5.227.000 (five million two hundreds and twenty-seven thousand KD), for the period of 24 months (730 days) from the date of the execution of the project in February 2010.
Dr. Modhi Al-Humoud, the Minister of Education and Higher Education, said that this day is a historical day for Kuwait University, expressing her happiness of signing the contract of a long anticipated project which after being accomplished , the University will start the construction of the essential buildings of Colleges and its facilities , hoping that more construction work will follow after signing the contract ,and expecting that the implementation of this project will consistent with the outlined timetable to achieve the university we all have aspired to have.
Finally, Dr. Modi Al-Humoud thanked the University Administration, the Planning Sector and all the staff at KU for their hard work in serving the University and ensuring the completion of the phases of City of Sabah Al-Salem University especially with the growing number of the students. She also thanked Gulf Construction Company of Marine Operations and General Contracting represented by engineer Manaf Mohamed Ali Al-Muhanna, for its commitment in this project's excution hoping that the company will succeed in implementing it.
It is worth mentioning that the infrastructure work has been divided into 10 phases, the first phase includes soils work and land leveling while the other nine phases include the rest of the project's infrastructure work. The construction program, with the help of its Consultant and the coordination of the Planning Sector at the University, undertakes all the special procedures to complete the rest of the phases and to obtain the approval of the concerned parties which has be consistent with the execution of the project within the timetable .furthermore, the approval of all the bid's regulators have been obtained which are (The Fatwa and Legislation - Ministry of Finance "Request For Proposal"- the Audit Bureau- the Central Tenders Committee- Financial Control)
