The inauguration of the 18th Health Sciences Center Poster Conference at College of Medicine

Prof. Al-Bader: the Conference aims to publish research activities and showcases the latest medical and research developments in the field of Modern Medicine

Under the patronage and presence of KU President Prof. Abdullateef Al-Bader, College of Medicine inaugurated the 18th Health Sciences Center Poster Conference from 7-9 May, 2013 at Health Sciences Center Auditorium- Jabriya, with the participation of colleges of Health Sciences Center, students and doctors locally and internationally, in addition to the participation of delegations of universities abroad while the number of scientific posters reached 236 papers.

On this occasion, Al-Bader stressed that the idea of organizing scientific poster conference began in 1994 as the aim of this conference is to spread research activities and view the latest medical and research developments in the field of modern medicine.

The conference is a forum featuring experiences of distinguished researchers who enrich the medical literature with their studies in various fields of science while exploring and discussing new opportunities for cooperation in the field of research.

Al-Bader added that this annual conference connects scientific research in the field of basic and clinical sciences, expressing his joy of the participation of 236 poster from College of Medicine ,Health Sciences Center and other colleges in Kuwait.

Dean of College of Medicine Prof. Adel Khadhar Aayed indicated that most of the presented researches involve the basic medical sciences and common diseases in the community such as diabetes, blood pressure and heart diseases.

For his part, Prof. Widad Al-Naqeeb extended his appreciation to all participants in the 18th HSC Poster Conference and to the Keynote Speaker Prof. Freda Miller for delivering an excellent Keynote lecture on “Stem Cells: Building and Rebuilding the Nervous System”.

AL-Naqeeb added that 236 participating posters of students and faculty members of all health sciences center's colleges in this conference, in addition to other colleges beside KU, pointing out that this conference will provide a distinguished opportunity for researchers to discuss research activities.

Al-Naqeeb extended his gratitude to Prof. Peter Lucas and his organizing Committee for the excellent job as they worked really hard to make this conference a success .
